碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 應用日語學系碩士班 === 102 === Since “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma” is related to the interest of Japanese nation or vital problems in daily life, it has formally become one of the main topics in “the Japan-U.S.A summit” in 1996. However, since Japan and USA want to protect their respective national interests, until 2013, “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma” is still under debate and no agreement is made. Therefore, according to the aforesaid matters, this thesis researches the news report of Yomiuri News to study whether a news media reports a topic in different aspects when the topic is in opposite opinions, and to discuss the national interest in the topic of “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma” during the four Japan-U.S.A summit in 1996 This thesis includes three main objects. In the first, to study whether Yomiuri News is objective when reporting “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma;” then to analysis “the new value” of “the national interest” from the new reports; finally, to further discuss how the national interest in modeled in the news report in view of three points of views of “public voice, media, and government.” The research results of this thesis show that Yomiuri News upholds the principle of “objective reporting” to report the development in “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma” and the news value of “the issues on the relocation of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma” can be known from the new report, and “the regional issue” is also an main factor to report in additional to “opposition, dispute and etc.” Air Station Futenma,” people submit their opinions to the government via the news media, and the government incorporates the opinions into its policy which is then proposed in the Japan-U.S.A summit; after the summit, the government informs the policy to people also via the news media. This structural model can be noticed from the report of Yomiuri News. The research results of this thesis also show this structural model changes its embodiments according to the contents of “the Japan-U.S.A summit.”
