It does not only investigate the differences of kansei image between male and female, but also three ages. This is the conclusion： <1> "Decorative - practical" is the most important representative adjective of appearance and functional design of garbage cans. The second is "light - heavy" and the third is "trendy – retro." <2> The design elements of trash garbage cans are 「can body shell material」 (metal, plastic, leather, wood), 「barrel top shape」 (round, square, narrow shape), 「method of opening」 (induction, manual clamshell or push, push button or pressing, stampede, rotary cover, no cover), 「design of extracting the garbage can」 (with, without), 「style」 (no shape change, shape change). <3> For all ethnic groups, 「can body shell material」, 「method of opening」, 「style」 are in the top three of the ability which can affect representative adjectives, and they have moderate correlation or highly correlation. 「Method of opening」 influences "trendy - retro" most strong. 「Induction」 makes people trendy and 「manual clamshell or push」makes people retro. 「Style」influences " decorative - practical " most strong. 「Shape change」 makes people decorative and 「no shape change」 makes people practical. 「Can body shell material」 influences " light - heavy " most strong. 「Plastic」 makes people light and 「wood」 makes people heavy. <4> Differences between male and female is very small. Differences between three ages is small too, but it is bigger than gender. <5> When designers unknown the kansei information of some kind of consumers, they should be working in the 「style」. If they known " decorative " is more important than " practical ", make 「shape change」. Otherwise, make 「no shape change」. They can consider remainder design elements if they in a appropriate situation. By the result, designers can see the design direction by understanding feelings of all ethnic groups from design elements. Otherwise ,they can know the importance of the kansei adjectives for each consumer, so they do not completely lose the design direction when their information is insufficient.
