Assessment and application of river pollution index in San-ye Creek

碩士 === 崑山科技大學 === 環境工程研究所 === 102 === San-Ye Creek is one of the major creek for Erh-Jen River. From upstream to downstream, the entire creek is suffering from industrial wastewater so that rendered serious pollution as “black river”. There are four monitoring stations which include Wang-Liao Bridge...

From upstream to downstream, the entire creek is suffering from industrial wastewater so that rendered serious pollution as “black river”. There are four monitoring stations which include Wang-Liao Bridge, Ji-Tan Bridge, Wu-Kong Bridge, and Yong-Ning Bridge, and confluence with Erh-Jen River in front of the sea. For accelerating economic development, Tainan area is surrounding of industry, agriculture, and domestic wastewater that make heavily polluted status. In recent years, San-Ye Creek is one of the major rivers continued improvement by the government. For preventing the deterioration of water quality, this study aimed at various alternatives, such as dammed river, water treatment plant, as well as surface aeration systems for identifying the best alternative. In this study, reduction of concentration for each reach translated as river pollution index (RPI) to assess the pros and cons of each alternative. The golal is to allow RPI down to 5.75 points (6.0 as severe pollution limits) that makes RPI down 2.0 points (equally as a drop of 26%). However, due to the cost-effectiveness, we choose a higher efficiency in wastewater treatment plant and surface river aeration system as possible ways to improve the river quality. We also discuss the paradoxof RPI classification. Chih-Sheng Lee 李志賢 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW
