Through the operation measuring data of Air Break Switch of Taipower Company, the switching surge are investigated. The ground potential rise caused by the lightning currents lead to ground will affect the low voltage power source. The transient voltage may damage the electrical devices. The EMTP/ATP program is adopted to simulate the low voltage transients caused by the lightning with different striking positions.Simulations with arresters installed are performed.
