This thesis presents our study on the forecasting of life satisfaction among the senior citizen in Taiwan, with a focus on the performance of moving average and fuzzy time series. The senior citizen made valuable contributions to the economic development of Taiwan, so the Taiwan government should care about the life satisfaction of the senior citizen. The goal of our study is to develop a model that can forecast the life satisfaction among the senior citizen, and the results presented in this thesis can provide information to the public, the policy makers, and others who are interested in improving the care of the senior citizen.
Through literature review and the analysis of empirical results, our study reaches the following conclusions: The forecasting model for the life satisfaction of the senior citizens adopted in our study can clarify the current situation of the life satisfaction of the senior citizens by using the forecasting method; the senior citizens’ satisfaction with physical and mental health, family life, and public safety show downward trends; and the senior citizens in Taiwan feel satisfied with and happy about overall self-life.
We provide the following suggestions according to the results of our study: Relevant government agencies and healthcare agencies need to develop better policies and qualities for the healthcare of the senior citizens; the senior citizens and their family members need to think about and adjust family life and manage feelings between couples and family members; and accessible environment in the public place needs to be improved and adjusted in order to create a friendlier public environment.
