Summary: | 碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 牙醫學研究所碩士在職專班 === 102 === Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral diseases in Taiwanese adult, and the incidence of periodontitis increases with age. Periodontal tissue destruction of these patients lead to various complicated oral problems, such as increase of tooth mobility, as well as bite collapse and occlusal plane disharmony due to missing tooth. These issues have to rely on the cooperation between the various subjects, such as Periodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral surgery, Prosthodontic etc, to let periodontal prosthetics patients get a more complete and thorough treatment care. In 1974, Dr. Amsterdam initiated the concept of “Periodontal Prosthesis” , defined as “those restorative and prosthetic endeavors that are absolutely essential in the treatment of advanced periodontal disease” . The main goal of treatment is to reestablish the oral health of patients with periodontal disease and associated progressive and irreversible tooth mobility. The physiologic form and function of the dentition and its supporting structures are restored and stabilized.
In this thesis, a total of nine cases of periodontal prosthesis are presented. These cases were completed through the treatment protocols such as initial phase, re-evaluation, surgical phase, prosthetic phase and maintenance phase.
An appropriate treatment plan based on the patient&;apos;&;apos;s chief complaint, physical condition and economic situation have developed. With the help of various surgeries, such as open flap debridement, ridge preservation and augmentation technique, connective tissue grafts, crown lengthening procedure, root separation and resection, patients are treated appropriately.
Finally, the oral health, chewing function and aesthetics of these patients were restored. With the help of dental implants and magnetic attachments applications, the function of prosthesis can play better.
