Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華醫事科技大學 === 職業安全衛生系暨碩士班 === 102 === Employees in semiconductor and electro-optics industries areprone to chronic exposure of low level arsenic. This study evaluated the arsenic exposure, health effects and DNA methylation for workers in these industries. One hundred and thirty three subjects, including 74 subjects in the exposure group and 59 subjects in the control group, were recruited from three semiconductor and electro-optics industries. All of the subjects were evaluated by questionnaires, total arsenic (tAs) in blood, urinary arsenic, biochemistry indices of liver and renal functions, urinary 8-OHdG as well as DNA methylation status of the p53 and p16 genes. Analysis results indicated that the blood tAs in preventive maintenance (PM) engineers (11.63±4.42 μg/L) were significantly higher than those in operators (10.03±2.23 μg/L) (P<0.05).Additionally, the blood tAs in semiconductor workers (11.93±2.32 μg/L) were significantly higher than those in electro-optics workers (10.41±3.64 μg/L) (P<0.05). The urinary arsenic in PM engineers (6.24 ± 2.18 μg/L) were significantly higher than those in operators (4.38 ± 1.88 μg/L) as well (P<0.05).All urinary arsenic concentration were less than the ACGIHbiological exposure limit (BEI) 35μg / L.The abnormal proportion of SGPT in the exposure group (33.8%) was significantly higher than that in thecontrol group (13.8%) (P<0.01). Moreover, the abnormal proportion of SGOTin the exposure group (12.2%) was also higher than that in the controlgroup (5.2%).Urinary 8-OHdGs concentrationswere not signifcanfiy different between exposure and control groups, and the values were 3.17 ± 2.60 μg / g crn in the exposure group and 4.03 ± 2.73 μg / g crn in the controlgroup(p = 0.111). Furthermore, the borderline hypermethylation in both p16and p53 genes could be found in the exposure group that had shortseniority (3.6±3.1 years).
