碩士 === 弘光科技大學 === 護理研究所 === 102 === Abstract Schizophrenia is one kind of serious mental illness. Patients tend to discontinue treatment and relapse, and gradually decrease their social function. Illness management model is an evidence-based intervention model to improve the knowledge of mental illness, medication attitude and adherence, and treatment maintenance for patients with schizophrenia. Methodological triangulation combined quantitative and qualitative research designs wereused in this study. First, the qualitative research design was used to explore patients’ experience during the intervention, and the treatment process of the illness management model. Second, the effectiveness of illness management model were examined by using the single-group pre- and post quasi-experimental research design. Outcome indicators included knowledge for illness, drug attitude inventory, medication adherence, and patients’ satisfaction. The changing process, patients’ concerns and group issues of the illness management model group for patients with schizophrenia were depicted. Four outcome indicators improved.The significant effects were found onillness knowledge. The results support to widely implement the nurses-led illness management model for patients with schizophrenia in community.
