Study on Family Risk and Protective Factors for Substance Use Among the Junior High School Pupils in the Taoyuan Hsinchu Miaoli Region

碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 102 === This study surveyed junior high school students at Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli regions with 1418 valid samples. The measuring tool was the substance use questionnaire developed by Lin (2010) and the sub-scales were inclusive of participant information, behavior of substance use, parent nurturing and perception, and the parent-child conflict. As the results indicated, (1) there is a gender difference that the prevalence of all kinds of substance use for male participants is higher than for female participants, (2) as for the grade difference, only the grade 8 female participants reveal a significantly higher prevalence for alcohol use, and (3) the conflict-to-father and family structure can discriminate male substance users from non-users for 58.5% while the father-child relationship can discriminate female substance users from non-users for 61.3%.
