ABSTRACT
Bingxin was one of the remarkable literature masters of the 20th century in China.She created the style of Bingxin which was unique and had profound influence to people.What she insisted in her whole life was “The Philosophy of Love”. It was written in her works , like the novel of problem, prose, short poems and the literature of children. The short poems of Bingxin is the major content what I want to study. “Stars” and “Spring Water” are the most parts. They were published in 1923. “Stars” is consisted of 164 short poems and “Spring Water” is consisted of 182 short poems.The elegant words show the real feelings, lively image and the philosophy of life.
This study is divided into six chapters. The first chapter Introduction presents the motivations of this study, followed by theoretical framework, the scope of research, and methodology. The second chapter elaborates the life and creative career of Bing xin, which is related to her era, childhood, school days, marriage, and senior ages. The third chapter derived from her works “Stars” and “Spring Water” introduces the major content of the short poems of Bingxin in terms of mother’s love, childhood and the nature.The fourth chapter relates the art features of the short poems of Bingxin and Tagore. It made a comparison between Tagore’s work “Stray Birds” and Bingxin’s “Stars” and “Spring Water” in terms of their similarities of thoughts and styles.The fifth chapter explores the evaluation and influence of Bingxin on the contemporary era and the past.The sixth chapter concludes viewpoints throughout the study.
Bingxin was such a great female writer who lived to write for all of her life. Her works “Stars” and “Spring Water” are overflowing with sentiment, beautiful scene and philosophy. They enrich the field of short poem and warm the spirits of people for generations.
