In practice, setting the process parameters is usually based on the expert’s experience and trials and errors. The subject for optimizing multiple quality characteristics for the HDPE cable extrusion process has not been fully explored yet. The research first used Taguchi method on the HDPE cable extrusion process to conduct experiment. Next, expert evaluation and TOPSIS were applied for normalization of the multi-quality characteristic data to derive the best parametric combination. Finally a confirmation experiment was conducted, and the S/N ratio of the result indicates that the best parametric combination works and the cable produced fits well within the customer’s spec.
