Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔英科技大學 === 環境工程與科學系碩士班 === 102 === Groundwater contamination is a serious environmental problem especially in the cities with industrial history. Characterization and monitoring of contaminant plumes in groundwater and delineation of source zone locations are essential for making decisions regarding the future land use at contaminated sites, and for choosing appropriate remediation measures, if they are needed. The study site was severely contaminated with chlorinated solvents and announced as Contaminated Sites by EPA which is located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The concentrations of trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene were 1.197 mg/l and 1.148 mg/l, respectively, exceeding the soil and groundwater control standard of 0.005 mg/l. Chlorinated solvents are prevalent and persistent groundwater contaminants. To help protect people from potential health effects caused by exposure to chlorinated solvents, such as trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, 1,1-dichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride, risk assessments are conducted to guide policy and risk assessment decisions. Application of MODFLOW and MT3D to simulate the fate and transport of trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, 1,1-dichloroethylene, and vinyl chloride at the study site. Model simulations were used in conjunction with highest contaminant data to examine the movement of plume constituents, with the 10, 20, 30-year and dispersivity values of 10, 30 and 100 meter, respectively. The simulation concentrations of chlorinated solvents were adopted to evaluate the health risk. Considering both conditions of dispersivity and simulation time, the affective range of chlorinated solvent was estimated and the result of the total health risk is 1.14×10-3.
