Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 企業管理學系管理學碩士在職專班 === 102 === The impact of the phenomenon of “cynicism” on today’s business organizations should not be underestimated. Cynics usually believe that there are serious problems exist in organization, and the problems cannot be solved because of the selfishness and the lack of integrity within organization members; therefore, their external manifested attitudes are usually indifferent and alienated, and show negative attitudes such as mocking to their other colleagues as a response to express their dissatisfaction and unhappy emotion.
This mocking attitude would usually seriously violate the harmonious relationship within organization. On the other hand, it is easy for cynics to think that others would give them a negative evaluation, so they choose to alienate from others or use mocking expression as a way to protect themselves. The characteristics of cynicism, the gelophobia and katagelasticim, are derived from the lack of self-confidence and their low self-esteem. Conversely, people with high self-esteem and high resilience can adjust their psychological stress and adapt the changes of environment quickly, so it is not usual for them to have a tendency toward cynicism.
This research is to investigate the relationship between cynicism, katagelasticm, gelophobia, self-esteem and resilience in work field. 400 valid samples were analyzed by LISREL structural equation modeling, and the results were listed below:
(1) The higher degree of resilience, the lower tendency toward cynicism. (2) Self-esteem have positive influence on resilience. (3) The higher tendency toward cynicism, the higher tendency toward gelophobia.( 4) The higher degree of self-esteem, the lower tendency toward gelophobia. (5) The tendency toward gelophobia have positive influence on the tendency of katagelasticism.
To sum up, the result of this research found the cynics are afraid of being interacted with the crowd because of their fear of being laughed, and they like to use ridicule way to look at things around them, and they possess low self-esteem and low resilience. Organizations should be highly concerned about the cynics, and avoid employees from the tendency toward cynicism. This study was provided for organization managers as reference of personnel hiring policy.
