Summary: | 博士 === 佛光大學 === 文學系 === 102 === The present study sought to provide a textual interpretation of children’s theatre from the case of Little Teapot Children’s Theatre Troupe. The researcher found that the themes of the texts were mainly stressed on moral judgment and thinking, and then gradually leaned on the subject of sentiment. In the plot, the technique of ‘combination story’ was frequently applied. The playwright devised several lines which were interwoven with diverse elements to create the tension and the theme of the story.
The artistic performance in The Little Teapot Troupe was apt to apply multiple literary skills in language. Its abundant linguistic exhibition has created interest and surprise in dialogue and corresponded to the level of cognitive understanding of recipients. Folk language, in particular, which mixed and inserted in the standard Chinese sentences collectively contribute to the effect of bilingual cultural coherence. In addition, one of the Troupe’s characters was to interact with the audiences. They transformed their stage from extravagant costume to symbolic expression, from western opera to traditional local play. Recently they amply used traditional folk opera to promote oriental and local Taiwanese taste which enabled the diversity of performance on the stage.
The Little Teapot Children’s Theatre Troupe, with its simplistic and sincere attitude, assumed an enduring mission in education. The ideal and the spirit of this commitment were fully evident from their performance.
