Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 化學工程學系 === 102 === Polystyrene nanospheres is widely used in coatings, film, medicine, and biochemistry. It also can be further assembled into a one-dimensional, two-dimensional or three-dimensional photonic crystal structure as a gas sensor. Because of its wide range of applications, synthesis of monodispersed polystyrene nanospheres and control the particle size become the goal of many studies. Monodispersed polystyrene nanospheres with diameters between about 100-500 nm were synthesized following standard emulsion polymerization in this study. It was using styrene as monomer, sodium n-dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as anionic surfactant, potassium peroxodisulfate (KPS) as initiator. The PS photonic crystal templates were assembled orderly on clean glass substrates using a sedimentation method from the emulsion of PS. The reflection spectra of PS templates were measured using UV/VIS spectrophotometer, and the diameter of the spheres was measured by using Submicron Particle Size Analyzer (SPSA).The preparation parameters including the amount of water, monomer, surfactant, initiator, and temperature of the polymerization process were investigated by Taguchi statistical experiments to determine the influence of synthesizing variables on the optimal conditions and realize the minimum diameter standard deviation of the polystyrene nanospheres.
