Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 工學院碩士在職專班 === 102 === This case study examined the issue of lateral thinking in the service-learning program at Da-Yeh University in Taiwan. The traditional approach to solving difficulties is the use of vertical thinking. However, vertical thinking is unable to resolve many problems or contradictions. In contrast, lateral thinking can help to generate new solutions. In the past, service was considered additional effort, so students maintained a high profile when it came to providing information and seldom cared about the information required by the school. However, lateral thinking helps to overcome the situation in which information must be passively provided by students, resulting in a situation in which students actively provide information. This has helped to generate answers to many questions that would not otherwise have been resolved, such as the establishment of a complete information platform, coercive power, incentives, and systems. After just a few years of implementation, the Service-Learning program at Da-Yeh University has yielded important results.
