Summary: | 碩士 === 中原大學 === 應用數學研究所 === 102 === According to the statistics from Ministry of Health and Welfare, cancer ranks first in the ten leading causes of death in Taiwan. However, in terms of numbers of deaths, the combined death toll of heart disease which ranks second, cerebrovascular disease which ranks third, diabetes which ranks fourth and hypertension which ranks tenth is far more than the numbers of deaths of cancer, indicating cardiovascular disease is the major causes of death in Taiwan. Besides, the statistics shows that more than 22,000 patients suffer from cardiovascular disease retain their lives by cardiac catheterization. The focus of our interests are whether the radioactive material put in during surgery will have impact to the body or even cause disease; whether the probability of disease causing by surgery increases with the numbers of surgeries applied. Besides, we are also interested in whether cardiac catheterization increases the probability of getting cancer or a stroke among chronic patients (diabetes, hypertension). Carrying out analysis using Pearson’s chi-squared test, trend test, and logistic regression at significant standard a=0.05, we found that the radioactive material used in cardiac catheterization will have no impact on the probability of getting lung cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer and stroke. In case of the occurrence of above-mentioned disease, it arises from other factors rather than cardiac catheterization.
