In this study, traditional rehabilitation accompanied with virtual reality training were adopted to train functions of conducting daily activities so that their quality of life can be improved. Methods: A total of 20 patients who had been diagnosed with stroke within 6 months and unable to walk were recruited for this study. In addition to traditional rehabilitation, they also received virtual reality training 10 times within 3 weeks. The Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke Patients (PASS), functional reach test, Modified Rankin Scale (MRS), Barthel Index, Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) and assessment of EQ-5D were conducted before and after rehabilitation. After excluding 5 patients whose health deteriorated and 3 patients who failed to finish all of the training sessions, only the data of 12 patients were used for further analysis. The mean age of patients was 62.42±9.67 years old with an average duration of 60.17±41.48 days after stroke onset. A questionnaire survey of confidence and satisfaction was also conducted after virtual reality training. Results: Significant improvements in PASS, Barthel Index, and EQ-5D (p<0.05) were observed after virtual reality training; however, no significant improvement in Functional Reach Test, MRI and IADL was found. Additionally, the questionnaire survey revealed that the designed virtual reality system was perceived as useful in improving the functions in daily activities. Conclusion: The virtual reality training with traditional rehabilitation has been demonstrated to be beneficial for stroke patients in improving activities of daily living. It could be an effective and useful rehabilitation tool for stroke patients. Chen, Yung-Fu 陳永福 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 66 zh-TW |
