Description
Summary:碩士 === 中臺科技大學 === 護理系碩士班 === 102 === This study investigates the needs of family caregivers of subacute care patients during hospitalization. The study adopts a qualitative research design that uses semi-structured interviews with 13 caregivers who are responsible for providing 24-hour care in the ward during hospitalization and applies the content analysis method (Tesch (1990))for data analysis. The results of this study are divided into 3 themes and 8 sub-themes as follows: (1) Learning the ability to take care of patients: unfamiliar caregivers, health-related information needs, care manpower needs; (2) Establishing a three-pronged process: identifying with their own role, support from family members, professional encouragement; and (3) Explaining resources available for follow-up care: use of social welfare resources, continuing care needs. From this study’s presentation of the content, heath care personnel are able to better understand the needs of the families of subacute care patients and take initiative to provide appropriate and comprehensive care to help families get through the subacute care stage and improve quality of care overall.
