RFID systems (Radio Frequency Identification, referred to as RFID), in many discussions with a number of recent studies, implementations including but not limited to gate access security management, cargo tracking management, medical control applications, MRT (mass rapid transit) systems, E-TAG of Highway and traceability of agricultural, fish products, can get a good supervisory effectiveness through applications of RFID technology.
On the moment R.O.C. National Army is promoting new generation of military combat logistics force, if identification and technology via RFID and TAG can be utilized in supply, warranty, transportation, service management and other operations, it not only can solve the situation of more streamlined system of manpower, but also can grasp a variety of logistical information swiftly and support troops’ battle (exercise) training mission timely and effectively.
A case study method was used through literature review and interviews with experts in this study, where RFID system was applied to a warehouse of the Air Force for aircraft spare parts through simulation scenarios that we discussed streamlined process for management of current storage, errors occurred to the reduction of manual operations, management of life cycle for military items and effectiveness of military electronic document management, expecting to provide a new proposal of logistics information system for the Air Force’s warehouse management in the future, further enhance the overall efficiency of logistics.
Take a warehouse of aircraft spare parts for the Air Force as instance, after the course of field observation, interviewing with all levels of industry personnel and collection of relevant information, we compiled the content of interview as complete as we can and analyze differences in the comparison of cases before and after the introduction of RFID, then deducted and evaluated an argument in support of the research; in this study, it is suggested that RFID being introduced to warehouse management mode can simplify related process, reduce manual errors operating warehouse, enhance also improve management of life cycle and military electronic document of warehoused military items.
