Summary: | 碩士 === 中央警察大學 === 行政管理研究所 === 102 === This study is aimed to find the relevance of population statistic variables, the source of pressure and coping ways for police force. The population statistic variables of police officers include ages, ranks, seniority, marital status, job characteristics and service units. The extent of samples ranges from first-level (three stars and one horizontal bar) to mid-level (three stars and two horizontal bars) police officers affiliated to the branches of New Taipei City Police Department on December 2012. Under the way of stratified random sampling, 712 officers were selected as the samples which account for ten percent of the whole amount, 7119, in the previous category. Overall response rate of 712 questionnaires is complete, whereas 52 of them are regarded invalid. Effective response rate is 92.7%. The research rating scales include the scale of the pressure source of police officers and the scale of the coping ways of police officers. Data analysis includes critical ratio, factor analysis, product moment correlation, MANOVA, multiple regression analysis, stepwise regression and canonical analysis. SPSS software was used for statistical analysis. Based on our findings, this survey indicates as follows:
1. Of all the population statistic variables of the sources of pressure, only job characteristics show significant difference.
2. Except for service units, all the population statistic variables of the coping ways show significant difference.
3. Attempts to predict the coping ways from the aspects of the sources of pressure show positive in the following levels: proactive reaction, self regulation, seeking for emotional support and fact denial. Especially the aspect of environmental factor is the most predictive.
4. When using the sources of pressure as a way to interpret the coping ways, we find that police officers tend to take fact denial, self regulation and seek for emotional or social support as the methods when the sources of pressure highly focus on personal or organizational factors. However, when the lower pressure sources are from environmental or organizational factors, police officers tend to avoid using proactive reaction or seeking for social support.
5. When facing the sources of pressure, most police officers will take proactive reaction, self regulation and seek for emotional or social support to respond accordingly, other than negative coping ways such as fact denial.
Based on the results of this research for the reference of NPA and police departments in local governments, the suggestions are as follows:Raise the manpower shortage, Implement the 12-12 rotating duties, Reinforcement of policing marketing, Improvement of equipment, Normal performance execution, Simplification of co-organized services, Streamline of workflow, Elastic entitlement within organization, Practice of lobbying-elimination system, Establishment of abuse-of-trial ignorance, Establishment of independent counseling mechanism, Arrangement of professional counseling psychologist, Increase of entertainment & sports facilities to ameliorate the sources of pressure.
