It is a culture with a long history inherited the historic orthodox ethnic Han culture, and a mixture of Baiyue ethnic culture, and thus becomes a unique Hakka culture with charm in the Lingnan culture. In recent years, Taiwan's cultural and creative industries are booming; whether the society or academic circles are actively carrying forward Hakka cultural attractions. Activities about conservation, innovation, art, eco-tourism, etc. have been held to activate Hakka culture.
Miaoli’s Lion's Head Mountain, an attraction between Nanchuang and Emei, has become a Buddhist resort since hundreds of years ago. Lion Trail, from the trailhead of the old gate to ShuiLianDong, connects 11 tracks of different temples. In the 40s and 50s, it is said that Lion's Head Mountain in Miaoli was the farthest and the most fun place an excursion of the primary school could be. Because the government has promoted the two-day weekend holiday since 1998, citizens have had more leisure time, and the number of people engaged in tourism relatively increases. This is the beginning of our citizen tourism in recent years.
In 2001, the government made further implementation of two-day weekend, which shows the importance of entertainment and an inevitable trend, whose aim is to achieve both intellectual and emotional balance of people through tourism activities, and education through entertainment. Due to the rise of citizen tourism, Lion Head Mountain has fewer and fewer people to visit, so it retains a considerable wealth of ecological resource and heritage attraction. This study will try to make attractions of Miaoli’s Lion's Head Mountain flourish again from its gradually declining situation over the past 4 to 5 decades. Therefore, this study will use the literature review to analyze the features of its history, culture, and natural ecology, as well as summarize the related theory of cultural and creative commodity.
