Since 2003 government has requested a new public school with a total construction cost of over NT$50,000,000 to obtain a green building candidate certificate before being granted a construction permit. In order to accomplish the policy of sustainable campus, the reformation of ecological environment of existed schools should be evaluated and improved in accordance with the Green Building Evaluation Manual. The campus of an existed elementary school was this object of research which was evaluated according to evaluation tables of biodiversity, greenery and on-site water retention indicators in the 2012 version Green Building Evaluation Manual. The strategy of improvement and feasibility plans were provided in accordance with design strategies of the manual and ideas of ecological design of sustainable green campus when the status values were less than the benchmark. Three indicators should be improved after the evaluation. The first improved plan was provided due to the minimal variability and easy reformation. The second improved plan was provided to obtain better ecological quality of campus in consideration of all items. For the first plan, it costs NT$226,002 to meet the benchmark values of biodiversity and greenery indicator. For the second plan, it costs NT $3,728,400 to conform to the all benchmark values of ecological indicators. It is recommended that the school to apply for government financial support, and promote the sustainable development of the campus according to 2nd plan as soon as possible.
