Therefore, enterprises have to use enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) to assist their daily operations and allow executives immediately control the situations in the department’s processes and allow them to make proper decisions. From the practical point of view, many enterprises chose to adopt ERP in addition to manufacturing industry, such as the medical industry, service industry, etc. Hence, a significant number of academic research and literature relating to ERP are presented in various ranges, including customer relationship management, supply chain management, manufacturing production, finance, and human resources. Yet, most of these studies are focused on system implementation. How to integrate and analyze the past ERP literature systematically in order to find the major themes in the future trend has become a critical research topic. This research adopted the techniques of Chance Discovery and Text Mining to review and analyze the literature in order to monitor the studying subjects changed across the time in the past. This research divided the ERP research into three periods of time frame. Through the analysis of the literature in the periods, this research can understand the correlation of themes and terms between different time spots. This research also uses the visualization tool provided by KeyGraph to describe the trends and correlations between the themes and the research trends. The results found that enterprises/information systems, such as supply chain management, and knowledge management can bring many kinds of benefits to the enterprise. However, they can also create risks. Through the risk management and management on critical success factors, enterprises can do preparation earlier and reduce risks. Thus, future research can not only continuously study critical success factors on ERP and systems, risk management and system evaluation will be studies more deeply.
