However, the study of death row inmates’ cognition death penalty is barely made. The subject of this study is detecting the life course of death row inmates and understanding the cognition of death penalty. To find out the turning point which effected them in their life course, and to know their viewpoint of death penalty. Hoping the findings could be beneficial to death penalty system, strategic decision of criminal and criminal rectifying in the future. The study participants were 11 Death Row Inmates recruited from Tainan Detention Center. Sampling 3 of them by purposive sampling. Executing 1 to 2 times of individual in-depth surveys with interviews. The following are the findings: The primary family influence personality. The failure of socialization and resocialization. Death penalty doesn’t stop death row inmates from crime. The death row inmates’ concept of law is frail. In conclusion, the following suggestions are raised: To fulfill the function of family. To reinforce parenting education. Reinforcing the function of reforming of prisons. To strengthen education of prisons. Educating the development of individual muti-intelligence.
