However, the medical personnel could have difficulty to contact the wounded personnel with the skin, such as the premature baby in an incubator, bone fracture, or some patients who are not suitable to contact with his/her body. Therefore, the traditional medical equipments can’t detect the heartbeat directly by contact with the skin. This thesis proposes a non-contact detection system to detect the heart rate. The proposed system uses an image capture equipment to capture the images from human face. Then, a heartbeat detection algorithm is proposed to analyze the heartbeats. The previous studies focused on short distance to detect the heartbeats, because the brightness of the skin will decay according to the capture distance.
