The effect of IV&;V mechanism on project performance from the perspective of control theory

碩士 === 元智大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 101 === Prior researches argue that Independent Verification and Validation mechanism (IV&;V) improve the software quality and project performance. However, there are few researches using management view to analyze the whole picture of the effect of IV&;V mechanism on project performance. In this study, we used control theory to analyze the effect of IV&;V mechanism on project performance. Furthermore, we also find some factor will moderate the effect between IV&;V mechanism to the project performance. We use case study form Taiwan government which called Taxation Reform Information system project. We use In-depth interview to gathering data which is from project stakeholders and using content analysis to analyze it. The result indicates that there are no significant benefits that IV&;V will increase the project performance but IV&;V will increase the cost of project time to communication. We also find there are two factors will moderate the effect of IV&;V mechanism on project performance. Our contribution is using the new way to analyze the IV&;V in software project and find that requirement volatility; shared understanding will influence the relationship between IV&;V and project performance. It reveals that manager should pay attention to these factors when they exercise IV&;V mechanism.
