Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 化學工程與材料科學學系 === 101 === The use of low molecular weight poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (LMWPHB) prepared by thermal degradation method to modify hydrophilic nano silica are investigated in this study by using Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction, proton NMR, and gel permeation chromatography. It is shown by GPC, FTIR, and H1NMR analyses that LMWPHB with unsaturated bonds and with the number average molecular weight of 1200 g/mol is successfully prepared. The nano silica surface grafted with γ-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane is confirmed by FTIR and TGA. The results of FTIR and TGA indicate that the LMWPHB is successfully grafted onto silane treated nano silica surfaces. The addition of LMWPHB grafted nano silica to PHB affects the crystalline rate, crystal size, and biodegradation rate but has insignificant effects on the melting temperature, degradation temperature, and mechanical strength of PHB.
