碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 漢學資料整理研究所碩士班 === 101 === In recent years, Taiwan travel literature writer, Wen–Yin Chung, is famous for her delicate observation and unique lyrical writing. Even though Wen–Yin Chung herself, who has written a lot of books about travel, thought writing novels is her main career, travel literature definitely plays an important part in her works. Her works, including novels and essays, refer to homeland and love. She not only tends to show passion and love in her essays but has her special view in literature and art. My thesis is based on My Journal series, which talks about the writing skills and the atmosphere created in Wen–Yin Chung’s books. Besides, I’ve observe a number of artists and writers she talks about in her books and I wonder whether Wen–Yin Chung discovers herself and finds her hidden feelings through the works of those artists and writers. The thought of a writer is usually related to his background, and then becomes a fixed mode. The thesis analyses Wen–Yin Chung’s inner world and manners by studying by means of her writing styles. Chapter One presents the motive , purpose, methods, and previous researches. Chapter Two is the instruction of Wen–Yin Chung’s life, writing career, and her works. In Chapter Three, two points “ to leave” and “ to return” are discussed in My Journal series. Chapter Four discusses Wen–Yin Chung’s inner monologue and realization in her journeys in different places, which differ from other travelers. Chapter Five is to explore Wen–Yin Chung’s unique writing styles, including her writings and images. Chapter Six summarizes the writing styles, inner levels in her travel writing, and her status in modern literature.
