Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 醫務管理研究所 === 101 === Background:Taiwan is one of the most rapidly aging countries in the world. Nearly half of patients in the hospital are over 65 years old. To fulfill the requirement of the elderly patients is mandatory during the hospital design. Objective:Analyze the needs of elderly patients through field observation. Organize a design workshop to resolve the problem and find its solution for elderly patients. Method:We observe the process and waiting time in visiting clinics of 10 elderly patients. The problems and needs of those patients are analyzed. A design workshop consist of 34 medical staffs was formed to design a clinic room and figure out solutions from the aspect of space, physical layout, work flow and service. Result:According to observation results, elderly patients spend most of time on waiting. Poor space design, inappropriate physical layout and working flow as well as inadequate services increase the burden of elderly clinic visits. The design workshops concluded eight solutions which is 1. including spatial design of medical treatment for elderly patients, 2.data integration with outside hospitals, 3.improvement of ways of calling patients, 4.integration of hospital information systems, 5.way-finding design of hospital, 6.integration of out-patients’ services, 7.hospital cards, and 8.integration of patient-related information. Conclusion: To provide a friendly clinic for the elderly patients, the waiting time should be minimized by integration of information systems and precise waiting time prediction. To design a clinic for the elderly patient, we need to redesign work patterns and physical layout in order to improve work flow and reduce waiting times.
