Materials and Methods This study was a cross-sectional study. We interviewed the individuals with the World Health Organization questionnaire on quality of life-Taiwan brief version (WHOQOL-BREF) and the Beck Depression Inventory IA version (BDI-IA) when they went to the designated hospitals for periodic health examination. A total of 2,261 individuals who attended a periodic health examination of radiation exposure between August 2011 and October 2012 filled out the questionnaires. 1,838 of the individuals met the study criteria and were available for final analysis. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the objectives of the study. Results The prevalence of depression tendency (BAI-IA scores≧12) was 17.8% among all study individuals. After adjusting for confounding factors such as sex, age when informed of exposure, education, income, marital status, depression tendency and the frequency of comorbidities, we found that the subjects exposed to high-dose-rate radiation (TCD>5 mSv) had significantly lower HRQOL scores only in the environmental domain in the multiple linear regression analysis. However, the subjects who had depression tendency had significantly lower HRQOL scores in all domains (physical, psychological, social relationship, and environmental domain) as well as self-assessment scores. Moreover, except in the social relationship domain, HRQOL scores were lower in female, who were informed of exposure younger than 18 years old. We did not find the dose-response effect in the multiple logistic regression analysis after adjusting for confounding factors. However, individuals with scores less than or equal to the median of the four domains of HRQOL and self- assessment score had a higher risk of depression tendency. Conclusions The study results showed that there was no significant relationship between exposure doses and HRQOL or depression tendency in low-dose-rate radiation exposure subjects in Taiwan. However, depression tendency was significantly inversely correlated with HRQOL. Chen-Chang Yang 楊振昌 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 63 zh-TW
