Summary: | 碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 生命科學系暨基因體科學研究所 === 101 === Murdannia nudiflora (Linn.) Brenan (Commelinaceae) is a well-known folk medicine in Taiwan. The whole herbs of this plant are used to treat bruising, cough, pneumonia, mastitis, tonsillitis, and faucitis, etc. In this study, the chemical constituents of the whole herbs of M. nudiflora were investigated. Air-dried studied material was extracted with 95% EtOH at 55℃ for 24 hr. After evaporation of the solvent in vacuo, the EtOH extract of the whole herbs was treated with CH2Cl2-Me2CO (1:1) and then MeOH to obtain two soluble portions. The separation and purification of both portions by a combination of several chromatographic techniques led to the isolation of eight compounds, including two new ones, (2''R,2E)-2''-hydroxy-3''-oxobutyl 3-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)acrylate (1) and coleusene-1-O-β-D-glucoside (2), along with (E)-ferulic acid hexacosyl ester (3), luteolin-6-C-β-D-glucoside (4), luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (5), quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside (6), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (7) and 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid (8). The structures of isolated compounds were established by application of spectroscopic analyses (NMR, MS, UV, IR).
