Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 資訊工程學系(所) === 101 === Bandwidth of the CATV HFC network is increased dramatically due to the adoption of channel bonding technique in the DOCSIS 3.0 standard. In an HFC network, however, the upstream bandwidth is still limited owing to the available channel bandwidth that can be used for upstream transmission is small and may be noisy. Because of the sharing nature of the HFC network, when the number of users increased, to maintain a reasonable and usable upstream traffic for each user will become a serious problem. Unlike the traditional asymmetric bandwidth usage, the network usage behavior today is changed into shoewhat symmetric. When the number of users continues to increase, the upstream bandwidth will appearently inadequate. So how to appropriate allocate the upstream bandwidth and in some cases, an assurance of service quality is increasingly gaining its importance. In order to analyze and study the Quality of Service (QoS) mechanism of CATV HFC network, we will study DOCSIS 3.0 standard and structure first. The bandwidth allocation and QoS mechanisms in DOCSIS 3.0 standard are examined in detail. We set up an experimental environment to collect the performance data under different QoS setting. The collected data are then used to analyze and study what kind of parameters setting will affect the upstream performance.
