The digitalization and networking have not only affected the industrial structure of security surveillance and also attracted more and more vendors to tap into this high-margin niche market. What are the values of security surveillance industry? What are the key successful factors? What competitive advantages does GeoVision, a company with 3800 million of capital, have to be able to sustain a EPS above eight? After a comprehensive study on the development and background of the security surveillance industry, this research has found the competitive advantages based on Michael Porter's Five Forces Model and key success factors based on the KSF analysis. Therefore, the research has found the GeoVision’s competitive advantages to gain a foothold in a highly competitive environment. In the highly competitive market environment, the security surveillance vendors in Taiwan have the following market advantages: 1) capabilities of customization and R&;D: Taiwanese vendors is capable of high-variety/low-volume manufacturing to address different requirements of individual clients and to manufacture the products based on customized configuration; 2) professional expertise and product quality: Taiwan vendors has mature manufacturing technologies and can deliver quality products that meet quality requirements of clients in America, Europe and Japan; 3) international marketing and channel: surveillance equipment made in Taiwan is sold to more than one hundred countries and the advantage in international marketing allows Taiwan vendors to quickly grasp the marketing opportunities when the global surveillance market shifts in the future; 4) industrial structure and development environment: digitalization and networking have changed the way a surveillance system transmits data and the application of a surveillance system. As the demands coming from enterprise and government sectors are rising, the IP camera which offers high resolution and intelligent analysis will become a major market trend in the surveillance industry. Based on the key successful factors for network surveillance industry, the competitive advantages of GeoVision is defined as the following: 1) cost advantage: GeoVision leverages outsourcing strategies to reduce manufacturing cost and procurement cost to gain cost advantage; 2) differentiation advantage; GeoVision has developed the software and value-added features to differentiate itself from competitors and to replace conventional close systems and the surveillance landscape; 3) focus strategy advantage: GeoVision provides comprehensive portfolios of products and services; 4) brand advantage: GeoVision creates a private brand to increase brand identification; 5) customer value advantage: GeoVision employ integrated service advantage to offer comprehensive surveillance solutions and local after-sales services. In the end, the research has proposed the directions for operation improvement based on the research result and named the competitive advantages which set GeoVision a model that other vendors can emulated.
