Taiwan is currently in the starting stage of telemedicine. This thesis studies the current status, including performance, problems, and needs, of diabetes telemedicine in Taiwan by using interview, questionnaire, and data mining methods. Results indicate that (1) the data uploading frequency from patients is quite stable except during important holiday seasons, (2) medical care personnel generally agrees that the telemedicine helps the patients doing self-management and controlling the blood sugar, but not without reservation for beginners, and (3) patients suggest that the electronic and blood sugar measurement instruments have to be easy to operate and there should be voice function to help the elderly people. The results of this research will help the Taiwan telemedicine industry in modifying and developing their products.
