Due to the recent promotion of the conservation concept, “maintenance” is valued more important, rather than repaint the copper alloy sculpture in Taiwan. The goal of maintenance is achieved by applying protective coatings. So far there is still a little relative research about the coating materials used in conservation of outdoor sculpture in Taiwan. In this study, several acrylic and wax coatings are chosen, both domestic product and common used in Europe or U.S.A., to compare the protective effect for sculptures, through salt spray test and artificial accelerated weathering test. Stability and durability are the standards of choosing coating, for outdoor sculpture conservation, easy to maintain and to apply are two main concerns. Generally evaluating the effeteness of different coatings, Incralac® has shown the stability and protectiveness. Mixed waxes also have shown average results. Easy to apply is the advantage of wax coating, how often or how regular should also be considered while in use. Base on the test result, the wax product purchased in Taiwan are also qualified for maintenance, this could be an option for easy get and lower cost. 林春美 周寶中 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 96 zh-TW
