During the process of constructing visual representation, the author tries to capture her instant viewing experience of the nature, leaving her temporary sensorial experiences in the brain to recreate it visual form. This proven art’s visual representations are not fully controlled by the technology standards; as art can still issues new creative breakthroughs. Departed from the concept of “Persistence of Vision”, the author incorporated digital medium in her art to be cycled in between the creative process of installation and painting as a way to simulate the persistence of vision’s effect. Through this process, the author tries to capture the shifting subject of visual by taking the representation of city’s night scenes and use the afterimages of the city lights to reconstruct its moment of existence. Within the author’s work, the scene of city light faded away yet its afterimage created another surreal city. It becomes an underground city that is unnoticed in our daily life, as it is neither visible nor unseen, yet we disregard its presence while transforming it into a phantom. In the two series works of year 2009, the author used installation to encode (including artwork: “Perfect Landing in the Night Scene 01”) and deployed painting to decode (including artwork: “Sensitivity of Closed Eyes-3:00”), as well as used painting to encode (including artwork: “Sensitivity of Closed Eyes-Paris 1” and “Sensitivity of Closed Eyes-Taipei 1” ) and deployed installation to decode (including artwork: “Perfect Landing in the Night Scene 02” ) as a part of her creative development. Through the forms and combinations of installation-painting or painting-installation, the work translates her sensorial afterimages into visual representations, while diminished the spatial of real world into plane, but at the same time we also depended on flat image of art to remind us the essence of space. This inspired author to elaborate her artistic concept further in year 2010’s project, including: “Diminishing of Post Radiance” and “Shallow Light Year”. Through the exploration of “Persistence of Vision”, it becomes a way for author to assemble the fragments events of afterimage and pieced it together to reveal its true form, while allowing it slowly vanishing away turning night into daylight to promote a new visual evolvement.
