Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 心理與諮商學系碩士班 === 101 === This study investigated life stress, social support from Facebook (FB) web communities, and resilience of college students. A sample of 579 college students participated in the survey. The instruments consisted of “Inventory of FB Social Support,” “Life Stress Scale,” and “The Scale of Resilience.” Data were analyzed with repeated-measures analysis of variance, independent-sample t-tests, multivariate analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Major findings of this research are as follows:
1. Male and female college students did not differ significantly in the extent of perceived FB social support; junior students reported having greater FB social support than freshmen, sophomores, and senior students; students in colleges of humanities and social sciences, design and communication, science and engineering reported receiving greater FB informational aspect of social support than students of law and business.
2. Males reported having greater life stress in social relationship than females; freshmen had greater stress in academics and sophomores had greater stress in social relationship; students of design and communication felt more stress in career development.
3. Differences in resilience were not significant among students of different gender, grade, and college.
4. There were no significant correlation between life stress and perceived FB social support; life stress was found to negatively correlate with resilience; perceived FB social support was positively correlated with resilience.
5. Life stress and perceived FB social support were found to predict resilience for college students.
