For the knee and hip joints’ lacked for movement of range of motion, the study develops a lower limbs assistive product. In addition to achieving the joints of movement for its completeness, it evaluates the feasibility of the design. Therefore, the study draws up the lower limbs exercise to drive the movement of knee and hip joints as the research direction. Then, it investigates into the structure of knee and hip joints, and analyzes the exercise types from the aspect of biomechanics. Finally, it develops the lower limbs assistive product. The results of experiment are divided into three sections: (1)Analysis of exercise type : The analysis method is used to measure the middle-aged’s lower limbs movement in the activities of daily livings. In this investigation, the motions of external rotation, internal rotation and adduction generally lack movement of range of motion for the middle-aged. Therefore, these motions are regarded as intensive development of product design. (2)Product design: The guiding principles of design are according to the discussion with the physiatrics expert. The guiding principles are the complete range of motion, relieving pain of the lower limbs, brief and easy not complicated, easy to use, easy to carry and the safe operation. Then, it is based on these guiding principles to develop ideas and prototyping. (3)Evaluation and verify for design: Using effectiveness experimentation and questionnaire survey of subjective verify for design. In this investigation, the range of motion (rom) of the knee and the hip joints are improving by using the design. The rom of external rotation and internal rotation are obviously difference between before use and after use. In addition, the result of rom doesn''t get influence between the gender and the both sides of joints. In questionnaire survey of subjective, the subject gets most high score of evaluation for operation.
