Therefore, the care model of elderly people with dementia has become an important topic. Due to the limbs action of elderly people with mild dementia is not fully degraded, their daily routines should be kept as free as possible. Therefore, the ability of recording the actions of elderly people at anytime and anywhere is a very important issue. If their actions can be recorded every 5 or 10 seconds as a series of images, it will be helpful for us to analyze their track, if necessary. However, the market is lack of such products. Although the consumer digital camera or digital video recorder can record the images, but the battery capacity and memory size cannot afford to record the actions for the whole day. In this study, we apply an embedded system to develop an image capture device, which is suitable for automatically recording the daily action of elderly people and mild dementia patients. The developed embedded system of this study applies general purpose microprocessor and accelerometer to detect the behavior of elderly people. By changing the recording interval of critical images to 1 or 2 seconds from 10 or 5 seconds, it will greatly reduce the power consumption to prolong the available system runtime, and reduce the overall system cost as low as possible. The recorded images could be stored at PC or the storage space provided by the cloud. With the recorded images, it can help the aging people and mild dementia patients to recall the track of actions and achieve the independence of their daily life. In addition to that, these recorded images will greatly assist the doctor to diagnose the behavior of aging people and dementia patients, and achieve the health care purpose.
