Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 工業工程與管理系碩士班 === 101 === Since text overlays block part of television screen, it is important to understand the degrees of interference caused by them. This study aims to find out the effects of text overlays’ frequencies and the relevance to the video content on television viewing experience through an experiment to collect the data about durations of participants’ viewing text overlays and the rationale behind their viewing durations. A two-way mixed ANOVA was used for data analysis. Results showed that the viewing durations significantly reduced by the increase of frequencies of text overlays. In addition, the viewing durations were significantly longer with the text overlays relevant to the content than with the non-relevant text overlays. For the interaction effects, results showed that participants could accept relevant text overlays in the frequencies of 10, 20 and 30. However, they could accept non-relevant text overlays only in the frequency of 10. It is anticipated that the findings of this study can provide useful suggestions for system designers or advertisors to the design of text overlays on televisions.
