This study selected case of Taichung City Police Department to confer the police volunteer motivation and consider their job satisfaction improvement as well as the connection between volunteer motivation and job satisfaction. It is expected that this study can contribute concrete suggestions for police volunteer manpower utilization and its development. The research objectives include: (1) To understand and analysis the current status of the police use of volunteers; (2) To probe into the police volunteer participation and motivation; (3) To probe into the police volunteer job satisfaction situations; (4) To understand the police volunteer job satisfaction and participating motivation associated conditions. The research method of literature analysis was compiled in reviewing related materials of volunteer motivation, job satisfaction. Base on the result, this study establishes research framework, and accordingly designs a questionnaire for random sampling object surveying. Totally, 365 questionnaires were issued, and got 353 copies return, 24 copies of deducting invalid questionnaires and 329 copies of valid samples. The results showed that the police volunteers mostly women, age distribution of 55 to 64 years old at most, nearly 95% married, 72% high school education, 62% with religious belief, more than 60% was in served as a volunteer other organs, years of service to a maximum of seven years, 93% volunteers have wish to stay. On the whole motive, the tendency to respond positively identity, gender, age, marital status, education, religion and years of service with no significant differences in motivation to "altruistic aspect" strongest motive to "social responsibility aspect." Highest satisfaction and motivation and job satisfaction are positively correlated. While the volunteers’ motivation is stronger, the job satisfaction is higher.
