The focus of this study are as follows: First, explore the different views of elementary school teachers in the leadership style of the Hakka principal. Second, the analysis of the differences of background variables of different schools in the principal's leadership style. Third, analyze and categorize the actual type of leadership style of the Hakka principals in Taichung City Dongshih District. Fourth, understand the current status of Taichung City Dongshih District Hakka principal their views in passing down the Hakka cultural heritage and promoting of relevant policies and the current status of the Council for Hakka Affairs. In order to achieve the above objective, the study with the questionnaire and depth interviews were adopted in this research. In the questionnaire section, the group of study to Taichung City Dongshih District elementary school teachers sample was carried out by census. In the study sample recovery section, a total of six schools were chosen, 131 teachers were recruited for this study. After the administration of 131 questionnaires 125 questionnaires were returned and the response rate was 95.42%. In this study, the use of tools was agreed by Professor Zhang Qingxun on this research topic of ‘Elementary school principals' leadership styles and leadership behavior questionnaire’, by using SPSS software package for data processing. Using frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, t-test analysis and one-way ANOVA analysis of statistical methods; In the interview section, three Taichung City Dongshih District elementary schools were selected, targeting teachers and school directors that are run by Hakka principals’ leadership style were interviewed, total of nine interviewees (including Hakka principals), were conducted a semi-structured interview, after the discussion according to the interview results are summarized and comprehensive description of the study results with the previous survey are combined. According to the findings of this study, summarized in the conclusion of the study are as follows: First, teachers’ different years of service in the elementary schools and teachers’ different academic back ground shows that there are significant differences in the awareness of the Hakka principals' leadership style. Second, different regions, different sizes of schools and different histories of schools have shown a significant difference in Teachers’ awareness of the Hakka principals’ leadership style Third, Taichung City Dongshih District Hakka elementary school principal leadership style is inclined to: Harmonious Cooperation Type, Democratic Type and Humanitarian Type. Fourth, the Taichung City Dongshih District Hakka elementary school principal has a significant mission in preserving Hakka cultural heritage, in particular save the Hakka language ‘Tai Po accent’. Through the literature review and data analysis of the findings and conclusions of this research, the author hopes to provide interests to readers to carry out further studies and make implications and suggestions for Hakka elementary school principals, as well as education authorities.
