Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 101 === This study begins with an analysis of the current status of serious games on the market and addresses the application of serious games by using the open-source software, Devana, to create appropriate digital learning content. Instructors can make use of the results from the present study to generate learning content and enable healthy competition between students, thus promoting the efficacy of learning.
The proposed serious game is based on Devana as the development tool, which contains a complete development module for us to make a strategy game to attract attention from students. We then created database connection between Devana and our backstage management platform, where extra functions are added to allow instructors to upload teaching files and to create and edit e-books.
The uploading function enables the instructors to place their teaching content onto the backstage management platform, while the e-book creating function transforms the uploaded teaching content into e-books that can be accessed by students in the "scripture depository" within the game to acquire knowledge from the teaching content. The editing function allows the instructors to make exam questions, which, in each level of the game, will become missions to overcome before the level restriction can be lifted or any key resource can be obtained. A learning environment created with such interactive functions may achieve better learning outcome by presenting the charm of gaming, motivating the students and providing hands-on learning experience.
