Description
Summary:碩士 === 亞洲大學 === 資訊工程學系碩士在職專班 === 100 === Map is considered to be the best tool to represent spacial characteristics. Being one of the essential capabilities of modern citizens, map cognition has become one of the most important learning goals in social studies. Recently, computer assisted teaching has attracted more and more attention due to the rapid development of computer and Internet techonology. This research designs a Map Software-Based E-Learning System, which combines Google Earth Map Software with Moodle, in order to enhance the map cognition of fourth graders, and investigates how the application of Map Software-Based E-Learning System to map teaching can affect the development of the students’ map cognition. This research identifies five elements of map cognition of the students with reference to Meyer’s theory: frames of reference, spatial orientation, measurement, symbolization and manipulative ability. The experiment in this research is implemented by “quasi-experimental design”, the participants of the experiment in this research are sixty fourth graders of two classes from an elementary school in Taichung City. The students are evenly divided into experimental group and control group. The students of experimental group are instructed by using the Map Software-Based E-Learning System, and the students of control group are taught by traditional way. This research has deployed the Map Software-Based E-Learning System as major experiment tool, and conducted surveys before and after the experiment. The results are stated as follows: Firstly, students can learn better when they are instructed by using Map Software-Based E-Learning System. Secondly, comparing the data between these two groups before and after the experiment, all five elements of map skills of the students in the experimental group are superior to those of the students in the control group after the experiment. The results have shown that the map cognition of the students in the experimental group has been enhanced significantly. The contribution of this research lies in providing a good E-Learning model which helps enhance the map cognition of the students significantly.
