| Summary: | 碩士 === 亞洲大學 === 數位媒體設計學系碩士班 === 101 === Based on modern people’s understanding of history, time-travel story makes impossible dream come true in movie, which let audiences get psychological satisfaction. Due to the popularity of network, either in China or in other countries, time-travel related novels and movies is well received in internet. The hot seems would no reduce quickly. Therefore the creative method used in time-travel dram is deserves to be explored.
This study is divided into four stages. In the first stage, important time-travel movies in Hollywood and in East Asia since 1985 to 2013 were collected. Folksonomy method was applied to specify those movies according to their stories. Various categories and common used classification articles which had used in previous time-travle related literatures were collected. Data source includes written works and discussion in internet. Those articles were combined and frequently used categories were retained for the following analysis in next stage.
This study analyzed 50 time-treavl movies. It was found that there are 4 kinds of time-travel methods have been used in more than half subjects. They are antity transfer 88% (44 movies), time travel 66% (33 movies), scientific transfer 64% (32 movies), once transfer 56% (28 movies) followed by space transfer and multiple transfer, both of them are near by half, 46% (23 movies). Those 6 kinds of transfer methods are applied in most time-travel movies. The least is anti-transfer 14% (7 movies).
This study had a further analysis in next step. Seven categories were used to analyse stories including 1. mission of transfer; 2. time of transfer; 3. Space of transfer; 4. frequency of transfer; 5. transferred roles; 6. Transfer method; 7. ending of time-travel.
Film structure was analysed at the third stage. Basic chapter form, three acts structure, three S plot structure, classical Hollywood narrative structure (CHNS), heroism structure were used to explore stoies. It was found although the setting of time and space in Hollywood movies are more complicated than noral film, but they are not out of those five story structure.
In the fourth stage Famous time-travel movies "The Matrix" and "Cyborg She" were chosen and case study method was applied to investigate their transfer type and story structure. Five articles include 1. scenes; 2. roll’s form and self sense before and after transfer. role through the before and after the appearance and self consciousness; 3. difference between matrix and the real world; 4. attribues of the matrix world; 5. meaning of the real and virtual world in film. The content of "Cyborg She" does not so rich as previous film, only two analyses had carried on: 1. transfer time analysis, 2. Transfer space analyses.
Four results had obtained in time-travel story type: 1. Both of go and return space affects each other. 2. Time and space dose not affect transferred role. 3. The types of time-travel are various. 4. time-travel story structure has advantages comparing with normal film.
This study found time-travel film was produced under the impact of postmodernic tide. Through time-travel film people criticized contemporary society and politics. Transfer becomes a method to rationalize the irrational story, to convince audience accepts it.
