This study investigated the phenomenon of marijuana usage among college students N=71, aged 18-45 years, by examining Self-efficacy toward marijuana smoking and the presence of Schizotypal symptoms. The Schizotypal Personality and the Smokers Efficacy Questionnaires were used to assess Schizotypal traits and efficacy towards marijuana use respectively. The findings indicated that high self-efficacy reduces frequency of marijuana use; however, no co-occurrence of marijuana use and schizotypal symptoms was manifested. Future research should focus on scale development, testing and validation which are suitable to the Caribbean, and the use of different statistical methods for analysis. In addition marijuana use and schizotypla traits ought to be jointly considered in further longitudinal studies as precipitators of schizophrenia.
