In this research ,the recognization and practice of environmental education for PingTung elementary school teachers were investigated by questionnaire. The data obtained from the result of questionnaire was analyzed with statistics methods inclouding descriptive statistics、t-test(correlated samples)、oneway ANOVA and Chi-square test (χ2 test) . According to the completed result,.we got the conclusion as following:
1.Teachers’ recognization about environmental education comes to a level above average.
2.The major teaching method of environmental education is to integrate into courses in various fields and the most prefered fields are science , life and comprehensive ones..
3.The teaching method mostly used in environmental education is discussion between teachers and students.
4.Most teachers held topical environmental education activities once or twice every semester.
5.The teaching content for environmental education mostly focus on the environmental recognization and sensation; but,environmental action skills are concerned least.
6.The teaching media which are most frequently used are DVDs and resources from Internet.
7.The biggest problem which teachers encounter is that too many extra school avtivities affect their teaching.
8.Teachers think the practice of Environmental Education Law can make them get more information about environmental education and help them a lot in teaching.
9.Teachers mostly hope school can held outdoors teaching activities.
By above conclusion of our research, we hope offer some suggestions to elementary school teachers、administration and educational administration.
