Another reason why researchers in the fields including medicine, engineering and cosmetic are interested in dental tissue research. The mechanical properties of tooth enamel are also noticeable in the field of engineering. Bovine teeth were being tested in this research. In the experiments, compression and three point bending test were employed in the examinations of the relationship between enamel and dentin to test for their compressive strength, Young's modulus, relaxation phenomenon and other mechanical performance. If the mechanical properties of the enamel are understood, it will also be useful to the development of complex materials. Other than the mechanical performance above, visco elasticity is also one of the properties of rigid biological materials like enamel. According to the previous literature, the procedures of producing test pieces and the methods of preservation were however made without reasonable explanations and records, thus this research will record the problem, difficulties and solutions in producing the test strips. It is also suggested that the preservation of test strips and experimental environment are divided into wet and dry in order to investigate if there is any difference in between and if it will show any dissimilar that contribute to the study. After a three-point bending, and compression retention test, the enamel and dentin of the bovine teeth being tested is subjected to different pressures and their mechanical characteristics varies. Due to the variation in the growing direction of dentinal tubules in tooth, the dentin is influenced in the way of giving significant differences of Young’s modulus in force planes among different directions. In different environments for different mode of saved the sample to perform experiments, the results also have significant differences, such as the dried specimens preserved in the humid environment of the experiment, the specimen of the environment has been changing circumstances will affect the results of experiments.
