In order to obtain the related data including steering angle, yaw rate, lateral acceleration, wheel and body sideslip angle, the equipments including steering wheel angle/torque gauge, gyroscope, non-contact optical two-axle speed sensors are introduced and respectively mounted on the test-car. The cornering stiffness of the tire varies with different tire pressure and aspect ratio, and hence,the two parameters are considered to evaluate the influence on the vehicle cornering behavior under various vehicle speed conditions in this study. In the road testing, the test-car is assumed to run a steady circle at a preset constant vehicle speed in case of a fixed turning radius. After a series of road testing, the main data including wheel sideslip angle, body sideslip angle, and yaw rate are really recorded, and then taken an analysis to investigate the relation between these data and the parameters including tire pressure, aspect ratio and vehicle speed. In consequence, it can be seen that the tire pressure, aspect ratio and vehicle speed have considerable influence on the cornering behavior when the test-car runs a circular path.
